Atel Energía to assure the electricity supply for the Barcelona metro

Next year the Spanish Atel Energía SA will provide the metro in Barcelona with electricity. In a call for tenders by the Barcelona Metropolitan Transport Authority (TMB), the Alpiq subsidiary has been awarded the contract against the competitors’ bids. Between June and December 2010, Atel Energía will deliver some 150 gigawatt hours of electricity.

Alpiq subsidiary acquires a new, prominent customer

Atel Energía SA has been active in Spain as a trader of high voltage electricity since 2008. It has now developed to become one of the leading electricity traders and importers on the Spanish market. It has acquired more than 600 customers, which it supplies with high-voltage electricity. In the short-term, Atel Energía intends to further increase its presence on the Spanish market and to offer its customers new strategies for assuring their energy requirements.
